Aurobindo's Gandhi Bashing

I don't want to be that guy who posted a clip on You-tube imitating Gandhi.

But here is a quote that was as refreshing as a cuppa Madras filter coffee.

When Gandhi's movement was started, I said that this movement would lead either to a fiasco or to a great confusion. And I see no reason to change my opinion. Only I would like to add that it has led to both.

-Aurobindo June 23, 1926

However a few may argue that it led to India's independence. I see it as something that was given than earned. Your thoughts?

he said..what did he do..he was a one-time extremist who later found religion...even had he carried on i am skeptical abt the stability of such earned freedom..

u call him extremist, he calls himself nationalist. He did a lot in Bengal and was in exile in P'cherry.

Whether non-violence worked or whether the Queen thought it was high time to leave the place as the overhead of administering is costing her more than what she cd swindle from India (much like today's Iraq situation) is left to individual's conclusion.

IMHO, Gandhi was by no means a Mahatma. Its like saying Sachin is a Mahatma because he wins matches for India.

While Gandhi was trying to control his sexual urges, Aurobindo was invoking his inner-self.

And FYI, we were almost going to be given the independence in 1910-1915 which was just prolonged by the English King, thanks to WWI build up.

i never said gandhi was a mahatma...i dont agree with some of the things he said...

60 years on and country is showing signs of doing better now ..lets focus on that..:)

thats again because of multinationals a.k.a East India Company establishing their presence in our shores.

Attributing our freedom to just one person is stupid.

there u go, deepa and even if you were to pick one, i wdn't attribute it to Gandhi.

I agree with Deepa. It was just not Gandhi but the efforts of millions of people who joined him in his Satyagraha.

The Brits with their imperialistic attitude are no fools to grant us Independence just because of Gandhi. When they saw a whole nation agitating they decided to go back...The Bloody politicians or so called Netas refuse to acknowledge the contribution of VOC, Subramani Siva, Kumaran etc...

But what is the use of this Independence Rajesh? Inspite of so much of torture meted out to Indians years back, Bollywood Duds go to Great Britain(Wonder why its called so) and sell their soul and self esteem to shows like Big Brother etc...

Yeah. Gandhi is like Dravid. It wasm inevitability. Did u hear abt Sri Lankan freedom? They got it within 2 years of India. Clement Atlee on a Labir ticket, ww-2, a weak Great Britain..

fuckin revisionist indian historians.

I,
Gandhi is like sachin or dravid? edhavadhu onnu sollu.

anu,
Manmohan Singh madhiri pesadha. Independence is always good. Bollywood is not somewhere you will find inspiration/examples/solutions.

Btw; some friends from B'lore always complain that we don't speak in Hindi in TN and that we Tamilians don't want to be a part of India. Now I am ready to tell those Kannadigas..."Shut up and obey the Supreme Court Decision". High time TN pulls the plug literally and let B'lore lurk in darkness.

I completely agree rajesh, we lost pakistan and are fighting for kashmir coz of gandhi. I dont completely agree with his "slap on my cheek and I will show you my chest for you to stab" policy.
