Mahatma?

Gandhi became more popular than Gokhale and Ranade (Please read this article by a Pakistani). If only the Britishers had given freedom to India around the first world war period, we wouldn't have had to celebrate this day as a national holiday. In the land that witnessed great souls like Vivekananda and Ramana (contemporaries of Gandhi), it is a shame to give this nothing more than a stubborn patriot, the title of Mahatma. History is unfair and wrong. I resent this, but who cares? Anyways Happy Birthday, wherever you are, you lucky ****

guess pappa would have come to earth, if so, congrats!1

I have a slightly different opinion about Gandhi, tat he made a lot of mistakes with respect to India, so avarai great-nellam solla koodadhudhan. However, one thing that should be appreciated is his patience (whch ofcourse also proved to be a drawback to us)

Baby will arrive shortly. Patience is diiferent from being stubborn. I feel he falls into the latter category. I do not deny his contributions to our nation's struggle for independence. However he cannot be singled out when you had starwalts like GKG, VVS, VSS Sastri, Tilak, Patel, Nehru, Bose et al

Thanks for bringing to light some of the greatest personalities of Indian History. Some people always find pleasure in working for great Causes without looking whether they get enough peronal glory or not. In the process, their efforts are eclipsed by others. This was precisely what had happened to Justice Ranade and Gopalkrishna Ghokale. Gandhi realised the pulse of the people and did what they wanted. He was glorified, eclipsing the efforts of many others.

Ramana Maharshi and Swami Vivekananda chose a different field. They were beyond reverence and reproach. They showed the people the right way and found satisfaction in that. They left the field open for Gandhi.
