Spring of temples

Shri Ganesha Temple and Marakattai Hanuman Temple will come up within 10 miles of each other. Ten acres of land have been bought in Plano and Frisco respectively costing over a million each. It beats my mind as to why the administrators of both these temples could not consolidate the effort to save on cost and provide a single high quality place of worship for the residents of the metroplex given the proximity of the two sites.
Even in the matters of God, man cannot set aside his ego! While it is heartening to see the sudden spring of temples, the inability of the community to come together is glaring to go unnoticed. With the limited supply of Indians (Hindus), I can only pray that the God(s) take it upon Himself to see these mega-projects complete successfully with abundant funding from generous Hindus.

For some reason Swaminarayan temples always seem to have less ego clashes amongst its members. Wonder how that discipline stays in place for them!

Deepa,
Swaminarayan temples are primarily self-funded by Pramukh Swami Maharaj and his followers who happen to own most of the Hotels/Motels, grocery shops and such small business owners in America.

hmm... 2 Million US dollars approximately 78 crore India rupees... why can these people invest this money in building a Hospital or Houses for the poor in India... or even better invest the money in the booming Indian stock market by setting up Charity fund can support 1000s for years to come...

When thousands of ppl are homeless why keep building temples to house a stone???

And yet we claim to propagate world peace and eradication of religious / caste distinctions.

Give a man a fish, you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish, and you have fed him for a lifetime.

wrt temples, more the merrier (as long as they can get the funds etc. going)
